Committee of States Commissioners of Education in Nigeria (COSCEN)

The Committee of State Commissioners of Education in Nigeria is a body made up of the commissioners in charge of education from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This committee plays a crucial role in shaping the educational policies and initiatives at the state level, ensuring that education in Nigeria is managed in a coordinated and effective manner.

Sub-national Collaboration

To promote and support subnational collaboration and
collective actions for progressive measures that shall bring
about socio-economic and educational development of the
States and Nigeria in general;.

Sub-national unity

To foster the spirit of unity and cooperation among States
and members;

Sub-national Advocacy

To advocate for overall development of the educational
goals of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the nation

Sub-national Support

To offer material and moral support to members and the
Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the nation in general

Technological development

To promote educational and technological development in
the States for subnational sustainability.

Educational Advocacy

To advocate for overall development of the educational
goals of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum and the nation.

Development of Educational policies

To work assiduously towards the harmonization of the
educational policies of States of the Federation.

Advancing education

To organize seminars, workshops, and interactions across
States of the Federation with the view to advancing
education in all its spheres and manifestation.
